Wine Region: Barossa Valley, Australia
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Mataro, Syrah/Shiraz
Tasting Notes:
Deep purple garnet. Whiff of vanilla to start, with dark forest fruits to follow some woody spice notes. Starts generous but finishes leaner with some nice soft tannin. Food friendly shiraz as befits a pouring wine ready to pair with a range of dishes.
About the Winery:
Smallfry Wines is the venture of Wayne Ahrens and partner, Suzi Hilder. Both partners have great knowledge of winemaking. They had experience in mainstream winemaking, before turning to organic, natural and biodynamic practices. Their vineyards in the Eden Valley (led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling) and the Vine Vale area of the Barossa Valley (Shiraz, Grenache, Semillon, Mourvčdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling) are certified biodynamic/organic.
