About the Winery
Estate-grown in Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills.
The small town of Gumeracha is home to the world's largest toy rocking horse and our vineyard.
The Saint & Scholar vineyard is a beautiful, spectacular backdrop for our winemakers. North-facing and particularly hilly, you'll see the fluffiest of fluffy clouds float above as the sun sinks across the valley, making you want to stay long after the day is done.
The hilly terrain means water drains rather well in an area of high rainfall, like the Adelaide Hills. Together with the beautiful sunlight and naturally cool climate, this makes for a perfect, harmonious environment to ripen quality, consistent vines; soon-to-be quality, consistent wines.
About the Vintage
The 2021 vintage was almost perfect, with a long, cool growing season, plenty of rain falling at the right time and slow ripening conditions resulting in flavorsome berry development.
This single vineyard Pinot Noir was harvested in the cool of the morning, crushed, and cold-soaked for 12 hours. After warming the wine, yeast was added, with the ferment pumped over as required for 7 days. Following fermentation, the wine was pressed to a tank with half going into French oak barrels and the balance kept in a tank.
