Fratelli Vitae Chardonnay 2016
Wine Region: Motewadi, Maharaskesh, India
Type: White Wine
Grapes: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes
Straw coloured with light green reflections, the wine has citrus aromas of orange and lemon with subtle notes of white flowers. On the palate, Fratelli Chardonnay exemplifies great balance. It reflects the freshness and minerality of the sandy soils it is grown on. An east-west sun exposure ensures proper ripeness and thus, good acidity. The use of French oak lends roundness and buttery notes on the finish. Elegance and structure combine together to make for a delicious wine that does justice to the varietal.Food pairing Paneer Bhurji, Grilled Whole Fish, Lemon Chicken Piccata.
About the Winery
In the beginning there was an idea. An idea born of a general conversation between the sons of the fathers. From the soles of a thriving shoe business to the soul of Italian winemaking with a Tuscan icon in Piero Masi is how this story began and how it has since evolved. Take three families, three sets of brothers separated by caste, country and faith, a shared dream and vision. Complete this fellowship of the grape, with the main cog in the Fratelli machine, a Tuscan with over 50 vintages of winemaking experience etched in his very soul, and the rest as they say is history.
Fratelli, in Italian for “brothers”, was set up in 2006 by brothers from three families in India and Italy –Andrea and Alessio from Italy, and Kapil from India. Tuscan winemaker Piero Masi was invited to lead the winery. Masi, in turn, invited the famous Steven Spurrier to join him to create the M/S Range of Wines. Vine saplings were brought over from France and Italy and grown in the vineyards of Akluj, in Maharashtra, where the capital city is Bombay.
