Smallfry, Schliebs Garden, 2015
Wine Region: Barossa Valley, Australia
Type: Red Wine
Grape: Grenache, Mataro, Syrah/Shiraz
Tasting Notes:
Red purple medium weight. Brown on the rim as an indication of maturity. Plum and Tar with Christmas pudding with a woody spice background. Fruit sweetness up front with a light mid palate, finishing long and savoury, silky tannin. Oak frames the palate adding structure. Rhone blends are versatile performers in the food matching stakes making them a good choice if you are invited to dinner.
About the Winery:
Smallfry Wines is the venture of Wayne Ahrens and partner, Suzi Hilder. Both partners have great knowledge of winemaking. They had experience in mainstream winemaking, before turning to organic, natural and biodynamic practices. Their vineyards in the Eden Valley (led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling) and the Vine Vale area of the Barossa Valley (Shiraz, Grenache, Semillon, Mourvčdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling) are certified biodynamic/organic.
