Domaine Belle Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Louis Belle 2015
Wine Region: Hermitage, Rhône Valley, France
Grape: 100% Syrah
Persistence and precision are already evident in this wine’s beautiful, deep, brilliant, garnet red.
The nose opens, rich and complex. Already it develops intense aromas of fruit liqueurs, cocoa bean, black fruit and sweet spices. As it breathes, if you take a little time to wait, it is enriched with a hint of sweetness and Virginia tobacco, almost peaty. Notes of vanilla, cloves and roast coffee express themselves and reinforce the complexity.
On the palate, this wine of character is rich and juicy. The tannins are velvety and provide the necessary support to this wonderful construction. This wine is both smooth and delicate. It will need another 2 to 4 years to open on fuller notes of black fruit jam and sweet spices.
About The Winery
Domaine Belle has an interesting history. In the 1600’s, vines were grown in vineyards around the Chateau de Larnage and all the land and produce belonged to the Lord of Larnage. Each villager had to give three days unpaid corvee labour (one for pruning, one for ploughing and another for the grape harvest).
In 1769, at a village assembly called by Claude François Mure, the new Lord of Larnage, each family was granted a small parcel of land with vines for their personal use. From these feudal times the family holding gradually expanded, until in the 1930s it consisted of several neighbouring plots whose grapes were made into wine and sold locally.
