Angove is a major South Australian wine company and one of the largest privately owned wine companies in the country. It has major vineyard holdings in both McLaren Vale and the Riverland viticultural areas. Because of its size it makes wine from a wide range of varieties, growing as many as 19 as well as sourcing fruit from other regions, but the most significant would be those popular in its part of South Australia, namely Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Grenache, Muscat, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. The red wines are largely inspired by the blends of Bordeaux and the Rhône Valley. The range has largely focused on value wines, and in the 1960s the company was the first to develop and market wine in a box, led by Tom Angove.
